23rd International Congress of Arachnology (ICA 2026)

It is our great honour and pleasure to invite you to the 23rd International Congress of Arachnology, held in Kochi, Kerala, India - famously known as the “Queen of the Arabian Sea” - from 15th to 21st November 2026. ICA 2026 will be held in the culturally rich and scenic city of Kochi, Kerala, India, a region renowned for its natural beauty, cultural heritage, and world-class tourism.

This prestigious event is hosted by Bharata Mata College, Kochi and Devamatha College, Kuravilangad on behalf of the International Society of Arachnology. The congress marks a significant milestone as it returns to Asia for the second time and the first time in India, bringing together the global community of arachnologists to share knowledge, foster collaboration, and celebrate the diversity and wonder of arachnids.

The Congress will provide a vibrant platform for students, researchers, educators, and enthusiasts from around the world to present and discuss cutting-edge research across all fields of arachnology, including but not limited to taxonomy and systematics, evolutionary biology, ecology, behaviour, physiology, developmental biology, molecular biology, and conservation. This congress offers an unparalleled platform for presenting cutting-edge research in arachnology, networking with fellow arachnologists, and exploring Kerala’s diverse and captivating ecosystems while experiencing its rich cultural heritage through traditional art forms, festivals, and historic landmarks.

We are committed to making ICA 2026 a truly enriching and memorable experience — scientifically, culturally, and socially. We welcome your participation and look forward to hosting you in the historic port city of Kochi, where tradition meets modernity, and biodiversity thrives.

The Logo

The logo of the 23rd International Congress of Arachnology (ICA 2026) combines symbolic elements that reflect the identity and culture of the congress venue.

On the right, a blue ship symbolizes the city of Kochi (Cochin), a historical port city known for its international spice trade and maritime significance. This ship emphasizes Kochi’s vibrant role as a trade and cultural exchange gateway. The palm tree on the left represents the state of Kerala, often called the “Land of Coconuts.” The state’s name is derived from “Keram,” meaning coconut palm in Malayalam. It highlights Kerala’s rich connection to coconut palms, its lush landscapes, and its agricultural prominence, justifying its epithet as “God’s Own Country.” A stylized spider web at the centre focuses on the congress’s arachnological theme. The colours saffron, white, and green at the bottom reflect the Indian national flag, symbolizing the congress’s location in India and its connection to the broader Indian identity. Thus, the logo blends Kochi’s maritime legacy, Kerala’s natural beauty, and India’s national identity with the scientific focus of the International Congress of Arachnology.
